The residents and visitors to Rehoboth Beach are provided quick access to emergency services by a team of 9 full-time personnel.

Even though the Rehoboth Beach 911 Center has multiple functions, there are two primary job functions within the 911 Center.

The center is equipped with the latest technology in order to maintain  quality service. The main components include Enhanced 911, Emergency Medical Dispatch, and a Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD).

Enhanced 911 (E-911)
Enhanced 911 provides 911 Center personnel with immediate address information on a 911 caller. This information is critical in providing immediate emergency services to citizens in need. The system allows the dispatcher to record that information immediately in case the caller hangs up before the necessary information has been gathered. If that happens, the dispatcher can call the person back. If there is no answer, a police officer is sent to the address to investigate.

Emergency Medical Dispatch
The Rehoboth Beach 9-1-1 Center is a Nationally Accredited Emergency Medical Dispatch Center.  The Accreditation is certified by the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch which trains dispatchers how to provide callers with life saving instructions on various types of medical emergencies, such as, how to control bleeding form a laceration, how to free an object from someone's throat if they are choking and even how to administer CPR.

Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD):
This device, accessed through 911, allows callers with hearing disabilities to seek emergency assistance without delay. Callers can access the Center by typing a request which the dispatchers receive and respond to by typing replies. The Rehoboth Beach 911 Center has state of the art TDD devices which automatically pick up incoming TDD calls or signals from all phone lines.
