On January 05, 2008, at approximately 3:13 p.m., a Rehoboth Beach Police officer responded to the Royal Farms Store on Rehoboth Ave., in regards to a theft from that place of business. Upon arrival he was advised by the clerk that a subject had fled from the store with a money order valued at $225.00 which had been lying on the counter. A check of the surveillance tape by the officer resulted in the officer being able to identify the subject and his vehicle. Being familiar with the residence of the subject, two officers responded to that location and contacted the subject. The officers took the subject into custody and recovered the money order. Gordon L. Samuels was charged with a misdemeanor charge of Theft Under $1,000.00, Title 11, Sec. 841. He was arraigned via videophone from Magistrates Court #3, Georgetown, DE., and released on $1,000.00 unsecured bond for a later appearance in the court of Common Pleas on February 11, 2008, at 12:35 p.m. Samuels was released and transported back to his residence.
