Rehoboth Beach Police Charge Burglars
Just before midnight on Sunday morning (April 20, 2008), the Bin 66 package store located at Rehoboth Beach Plaza was burglarized. A window was shattered and several bottles of liquor and a small amount of cash were stolen. Rehoboth Beach officers responded and surveillance video was obtained from the business. A few hours later another package store near the Tanger Outlets, Ocean Wines, was burglarized in a similar manner. Due to the similarities in both incidents, Rehoboth Beach officers assisted the Delaware State Police in the response to that complaint as well. Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning (April 22, 2008), a Dewey Beach officer on patrol made contact with several subjects who appeared to be in a disabled vehicle. After becoming suspicious of these subjects the Dewey Beach officer requested assistance from the Rehoboth Beach Police. Evidence was later discovered inside of the vehicle linking the occupants to the two package store burglaries from the night before. All subjects were arrested and transported to the Rehoboth Beach Police Department. Each was charged with the following: Burglary 3rd., Conspiracy 2nd, Theft, and Criminal Mischief. Additional charges will also be pending by the Delaware State Police for the other burglary. Arrested were: Kirk W. Dehaven, 18 years old, of Morgantown, PA. He was incarcerated in Sussex Correctional Center under $3,500.00 secured bail., William W. McCardle, 19 years of age, of New Holland, PA. He was incarcerated in Sussex Correctional Center under $4,500.00 secured bail. Jacqueline M. Innes, 18 years of age, of New Holland, PA. She was incarcerated in Sussex Correctional Center under $3,500.00 secured bail. Brett Askey, 19 years of age, of New Holland, PA. He was incarcerated in Sussex Correction Center under $4,500.00 secured bail. A fifteen year old juvenile was also charged and taken to Family Court. Bail information is not available at this time.
