On June 14, 2008 at approximately 09:05 p.m. the Delaware State Police and DNREC rangers requested the assistance of a Rehoboth Beach Police K-9 in the search for a suicidal female. The subject's vehicle was located, unoccupied, in the parking lot of the Delaware Seashore State Park, however her direction of travel was unknown. The RBPD K-9 performed a track of the subject which led onto the beach and eventually into the dunes area where she was located, unharmed. She was later transported to the hospital by ambulance for an evaluation.

Rehoboth Beach Police were contacted on June 14, 2008 at 09:17 p.m. by a female who advised that she had a knife pulled on her on the boardwalk. There was no demand for money, etc., reported. The suspect was described as a younger white male wearing a false beard and black sunglasses. Through investigation and contact with acquaintances, the suspect was located at a nearby hotel. The suspect was a fifteen year old male juvenile from Pennsylvania. He was interviewed with his grandfather and admitted his involvement. This was apparently done in an attempt to be "funny." The knife was recovered on the beach and determined to be a retractable plastic toy purchased locally. The juvenile was charged with disorderly conduct and released to his grandfather. NOTE: The Rehoboth Beach Police Department strongly encourages parents and merchants to NOT allow the sale of such items to juveniles. There is no legitimate purpose for a juvenile to possess such an item.
