Hotel Room Thefts
On Wednesday, July 16, 2008, the Rehoboth Beach Police Department arrested a 16 year old male from Selbyville in connection with a rash of thefts from hotel rooms. Approximately 7 thefts were reported over a two week period at the Brighton Suites Hotel. Reported stolen were various items to include Ipods, cash, jewelry, and other small items. Investigation led to this juvenile, a recent hire in the housekeeping department, who had card key access to various rooms. A search warrant was executed at the suspect's residence in Selbyville on July 16th, and some evidence was seized, including some stolen property from an unrelated investigation by the Selbyville Police. The juvenile was charged with 7 counts of Burglary 3rd Degree and 7 counts of Theft. Hotel management cooperated fully with the investigation and has since terminated the employment of the juvenile. A later appearance will be scheduled at Family Court.
Shooting
On July 17, 2008, at approximately 9:45 p.m. the Rehoboth Beach Police Department received a complaint of subjects firing a pellet gun from a moving vehicle near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Third Street. After police arrived on scene it was discovered that a pedestrian was struck by one of the pellets in his chest, causing a minor injury. A car window of a nearby vehicle was also broken by a pellet that was fired. The suspect vehicle had approached from Sussex Street, turned onto Third Street, fired the shots, then turned onto Lake Avenue. The suspects were last seen driving a dark colored, four-door vehicle, possibly a Ford Escort with the headlights off. Subject Exposes Himself to Boardwalk Pedestrian
Thee has been another report of a subject exposing himself. It was reported the morning of July 18, 2008 that at approximately 6:30 a.m. a male in his early 40's, tan complexion, possibly Hispanic, relatively fit in appearance, wearing a black baseball cap, gray cotton shorts, and a blue t-shirt, exposed his genitals to a female jogger on the boardwalk near the Henlopen Hotel. While interviewing the victim in this case she reported another subject who exposed himself to her last week at approximately 4:30 a.m. but she did not report it at the time. That subject was described as a male in his mid 40's with long brown hair, wearing a light blue shirt that was unbuttoned, and khaki shorts. The Rehoboth Beach Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact the Rehoboth Beach Police Department immediately by dialing 911 or by calling 227-2577. The public is also reminded to please report any crimes or incidents immediately so police can be dispatched.

Burglary Arrest
There was an arrest made for a residential burglary over the week-end (August 2-3). This occurred in the 300 block of Hickman Street. The resident was taking a shower and overheard someone knocking at the front door. When there was no answer at the door the suspect forced her way inside. The resident, after finishing her shower, came into the living room and found 27 year old Tamiko Harris of Richmond, VA., standing in the living room. When she was asked what she was doing there Harris threw up her arms and fled the residence on foot. Thanks to a quick call to the Rehoboth Beach Police Department and good description, officers apprehended Harris a few minutes later at 7-11 on Rehoboth Avenue. Harris was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and then incarcerated in Sussex Correctional Institute under a $5,000.00 secured bond.
Rehoboth Beach Police Department and Suspect Injured During Arrest
On August 07, 2008, several Rehoboth Beach Police seasonal officers responded to a report of a fight getting ready to start on Rehoboth Avenue and the boardwalk. When the officers arrived there were numerous people yelling and cursing at each other and were refusing to disperse. When full-time officers arrived on scene, one subject, Jarrel Flowers, 21, of Milton, was refusing to comply with police commands to calm down and stay back from other subjects involved in the altercation. When an attempt was made to take Flowers into custody he began to fight with the officers. Both the officer and Flowers sustained minor injuries during the arrest process. The officer was treated by EMTs on scene and released. Flowers was treated and released at Beebe Medical Center. Flowers was charged with Offensive Touching on Police, Resisting Arrest with Violence, and Disorderly Conduct. He was subsequently incarcerated in Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $3,500.00 secured bond.
